While most of my newborn sessions are done in my beautiful, natural lit studio, I do offer only a very limited amount of in-home sessions. Let me explain more. My studio is filled with beautiful natural light. It has neutral walls and furniture making it for the perfect backdrop for your session. These factors make light and airy images achievable.
Have you wondered whether to have your newborn session in the studio or in-home? My studio is where I do 90% of my sessions and I know the ins and outs of my lighting and how it shifts with the weather and/or time of our shoot. If you fell in love with the images from my portfolio, then a studio session is made for you. I can achieve the same look with the control I have in studio. In contrast, when I shoot in home sessions, the lighting to me is unknown. Similarly is the furniture and aesthetic of the home. Dark furniture or colored walls can effect the end result of the images.
While the images of in-home can still absolutely be beautiful, it just may not match the same look of the images you see on my instagram feed or website. I want you to love your images. For this reason, it’s important to know this prior to selecting where your session will be.
When deciding location for your newborn session – studio vs. in- home, here is something to think about. There is a bonus to the studio, no cleaning or decluttering of your home 😉!
I do recognize that some families prefer an in home lifestyle session and there is nothing wrong with that! While I do not offer these regularly, I do take a handful of them a year. If you have a beautiful nursery you want to showcase or have a similar light and airy aesthetic, an in home session may be the perfect fit for you!
