Whenever your baby is in the newborn stage, it can really feel like you’re in the trenches. Your body aches, the dirty diapers are piling up, and you haven’t slept in six weeks. But trust me, that stage really does fly by, and you need a way to remember all the gorgeous moments. That’s why I love providing portraits that let you capture your baby’s early months. As a Montgomery County newborn photographer, I spend a lot of time planning sessions with parents and answering questions they might have. Here’s what you need to know for your pics.
5 Questions For Your Montgomery County Newborn Photographer
When to Book Your Montgomery County Newborn Photographer
I always recommend booking your session early in the second trimester. I often get inquiries from moms who have already had their babies, and it breaks my heart to say I can’t accommodate them simply because of time constraints. Newborn photographers are often limited to how many babies they can take per month so it is crucial to book early on!
Location
For my sessions as a Montgomery County newborn photographer, I let you choose between in-home and in-studio portraits. Both have their benefits, so it’s important to find the option that matches your needs. With in-home sessions, you can use this as an opportunity to get cozy and show off the space you have lovingly created for your little one. At the same time, your nursery could take some styling and cleaning in a season where you don’t want to mess with either. With in-studio sessions, you will have a space where everything from the furniture to the lighting has been curated for your pics.
Timing
A lot of new moms ask me what age their baby should be during newborn sessions. Throughout my many years of photographing newborns, I have found that the window of time between 2-3 weeks is usually best; however, I also will photograph newborns around the 4-6 week age mark. Either age will turn out beautifully. It really just comes down to what works best for you and your family.
For example, many of my clients wait after having a c-section, so they have more time to recover, and I am more than happy to work around that. Because my sessions are less posed and have a more natural look, it is not as imperative to schedule portraits as early as some photographers suggest.
Safety
As a mom myself, safety is a huge priority of mine in my Montgomery County newborn photographer work! I always make sure my studio is clean, and I have a strict no-sick policy. I am also up to date on all vaccines recommended by pediatricians for caretakers.
Are Sibling/Family Photos Included?
I include sibling and family photos in each newborn session. In fact, I dedicate half of each session to this portion. This is when I am going to capture a variety of pictures including family portraits, sibling portraits, and mom/baby and dad/baby portraits. Even your dogs are welcome to join in on the fun!
