Toobydoo was founded ten years ago by a Dutch husband and wife team who pursued their dreams and made a major career switch in a “now or never” moment. Since the start, this Princeton baby store has always embodied a balance of American spirit and European flair. The name was inspired by a famous quote by Plato and Sartre, “To be, is to do.” As a society, we are always asking kids what they want to “be” when they grow up, but rarely what they want to “do,” and yet adults spend most of their time focused on “the doing than on the being.” And so, Toobydo found its name!
What started with a pair of well-designed kids’ rain boots eventually grew into a clothing line that was launched in stores like Barneys, Saks, and Neiman Marcus. When it was time to open their flagship store, they settled in Palmer Square in Princeton and have been there ever since!
