When Mom inquired for her second baby’s newborn session she explained the importance of sibling photos and incorporating her oldest (who was about to become a big sister) into the pictures as well. Being a Mom myself, I totally understand the importance of this. Welcoming a new baby is a lot of change, especially for siblings of a young age. We want them to feel included and special and know how much they are loved!

When siblings are involved in a newborn session, I make sure that they feel just as important as the baby. I give them the time and attention just to make them feel like the star of the show. The big siblings become my “assistants” in the studio. I need their help to hold the baby while I take a picture of them. Making the session fun when toddlers and little kids are involved is very important to me because this is what allows them to relax and open up to me. It also takes the focus off the baby and they realize that this is just as much about them too! If they let me, I will even take pictures of just them!!
Here is a glimpse of Olivia’s newborn session. Her and her big sister, who are a little less then two years apart, were beyond precious. Big sis did absolutely amazing as her role as my “assistant” :)!
Mom’s hair and makeup was done by Nancy from Nancy Caroline Beauty and her dress (and big sis’s dress) was borrowed from the studio wardrobe!
