Once a family books their family portrait session with me, I right away start working on a style board for them. This is helpful for them as it allows them to see what coordinates well together and it gives them a head start on selecting outfits. I really try to make their experience with me as stress-free and enjoyable as possible and helping them with wardrobe is one less thing for them to worry about!
I get asked often, what shops I recommend for children clothes for pictures, so I decided to write a blog post with my top three stores that carry clothes that photograph well.
-
Zara– This is hands down my favorite of all the stores. From dresses to jumpsuits to boy pants/shirts, you can’t go wrong with this store. Their clothing photographs so well and is definitely my go-to for finding kid clothes for portrait sessions.
-
Baby Gap– They tend to carry the classics – eyelet dresses, white button downs, khakis, etc. If you are looking for a basic shirt or a simple dress, this is a perfect place to start.
-
Rylee & Cru– I have found some of the prettiest baby stuff here. You really never know what you will stumble upon here but they often have hidden gems! Stick to the neutrals or soft patterns and you will be good to go!
If I will be photographing your family, you are in luck as I will walk you through this process, create a style board for you to help with finding the best outfits. If you are working with another photographer, I hope this helps get you started! Never hesitate to reach out to your photographer and ask for their assistance!
